The Susan Boyle Media Frenzy. What’s your take?

Millions of YouTube hits, worldwide press, and now book and movie deals. Do you think it’s mainly the old media (TV) or new media (YouTube, etc) that’s been the driving force behind this media frenzy?

Think it was/remains a perfect mesh of traditional (starting point) with the online kicking in as catalyst (millions of views beyond the TV show) and then back to the traditional (news programs, morning shows, interviews, newspapers) with the outcome being twofold…phenomenal viewership of finals of Britain’s Got Talent + continued online popularity of Ms Boyle (as she seems to have survived the recent online/traditional polls regarding her new look).

This is a great acting job from all parties, Ms. Boyle was already a discovered talent, total formula marketing, well done. For me at least, the entertaining part was watching the media tickle itself and watch Simon Cowell show off his new whites from every angle.
