Nothing will change. It’ll be a blip on the radar. Our society is too consumed with celebrity worship and Tiger has more than his share of sycophants who’ll condone his bad behavior and enable him to continue to be a total d-bag.

Phil Mushnick’s article in today’s NY Post pretty much sums it up. He lives by a different set of rules and believes he deserves to.

I’ve had to work with the golf phenom, he’s crude, vulgar, pompous and generally not a very nice guy to be around. That’s why he lives in his insular world, guarded from full view. The general population is only allowed to see his manufactured public persona. If we were introduced to the real Tiger we probably wouldn’t like him much. Then again, in today’s society it most likely wouldn’t matter.

We’ve gotten a little glimpse at the real Tiger, the Tiger that only his inner circle gets to see. For the time being, we’re fascinated, entertained by the circus of it all, it arouses our prurient interest, we’re shocked at his incredibly bad taste in women, his incredibly bad judgment, as well as his incredibly bad driving.

But in the end nothing will change. Eventually, Tiger’s handlers and his minions will make the world right again. There are just too many people out there that will continue to believe that he’s, “The best a man can get”.

Very interesting comment especially from your experience working with him.

Many people are curious to see how this plays out. Only one advertiser, Nike, has come out publicly with their support for Tiger. They also, probably, are the one’s most invested in him. The advertisers that play to macho males (Nike, Gillette) have much less concern about this than the others (AT&T, AmEx, etc). I’m sure those advertisers are not pleased. They’re probably conducting focus groups as we speak and having their lawyers review their contracts to see when they expire. Some contracts may even have clauses that provide an easy out in the event of something like this. If the contracts do finish out the terms I don’t see them getting renewed. When it comes to celebs there’s always someone new.

The critical test in the next week will be how well Tiger’s high-paid PR machine can contain damage. But, if he’s as jaded as you say, they may have a losing battle.
